For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf–her wolf–is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human–or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Shiver Fun Facts
1) Sam was originally supposed to be crazy about movies and directing. His summer job was supposed to be in a movie theater.
2) Originally, Grace’s dad took her to buy the Bronco. That was changed because it made him look too involved.
3) Olivia was originally written as a borderline personality — really psychotic. In the first draft, she asked Jack to bite her to get attention from Grace.
4) Beck’s name was Grant in the first draft. It was too similar to “Grace” and Grace’s name was not up for negotiation.
5) SHIVER was originally titled STILL WOLF WATCHING.
6) There was originally a scene with Grace meeting Ulrik, Paul & Beck. Paul was playing video games.
7) SHIVER was begun in October of 2007 and the first draft was finished in January. The draft wasn’t actually done for practical purposes until St. Patrick’s Day of 2008.
8)38 degrees was decided on as Sam’s changing temperature after the first time it hit 38 degrees in the winter of 2007 and it felt pretty $%^ cold.
9) Originally, Beck “tested” the cure for Sam and died.
10) SHIVER is based on a 2500 word short story that came to me in a dream. The first paragraph of the novel (the one that begins “I remember laying in the snow”) was taken almost verbatim from the dream.
