Printz Honor-winning authors Maggie Stiefvater and Lucy Christopher will be offering advice to young writers with a live chat event!

On Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. ET, young-adult authors MAGGIE STIEFVATER (the Shiver trilogy, The Scorpio Races) and LUCY CHRISTOPHER (Stolen) will join the thousands of young readers and writers on Figment.com for an exciting live group chat. In this event, co-sponsored with This Is Teen, Maggie and Lucy will discuss that most essential element of any story or novel: the voices of its characters. What makes a character’s voice believable? How do you channel a voice that’s totally different from your own? How can a young writer develop an ear for voice? Join us on Figment on Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. ET to learn the answers to all these questions, and more! The authors will also take questions from readers in the second half of the event.

The Raven Boys: Read The first 2 Chapters!

Maggie Stievater’s next novel, The Raven Boys, doesn’t hit stores until September 18th. However, Entertainment Weekly is exclusively sharing the first 2 chapters!

Richard “Dick” Campbell Gansey, III has family money, good looks, and tons of friends, but something’s missing from his life: He won’t stop searching for Glendower, a vanished Welsh king, who — legend has it — will grant one wish to the one who finds him. Blue Sargent, the daughter of the town psychic in Henrietta, Virginia, has been told for as long as she can remember that if she ever kisses her true love, he will die. But she is too practical to believe in things like true love. Her policy is to stay away from the rich boys at the prestigious Aglionby Academy. The boys there — known as Raven Boys — can only mean trouble. When Gansey and his fellow Raven Boys come into her life, Blue realizes how true this is. She never thought her fortune would be a problem. But now she’s not so sure.

We wanted to do a site update post because we’ve been getting tons of e-mails, tweets, comments, etc about a lot of stuff and we wanted to take a moment to clear the air.

Q: What happened to B.Y.E.? It’s been a long time since you’ve updated!

A: We’re still here. Unfortunately there hasn’t been much to update about.

Q: When is the Shiver movie coming out in my country?/I heard it’s coming out in November.

A: The movie currently doesn’t have a release date.

Q: Who have they cast in the shiver movie?

A: There is no cast for the film yet

We also want to let you know that we’re not withholding information from you, there just aren’t any new developments to share. The latest piece of news on the movie you’ll see a few posts down where Nick Pustay informed us that the producers are currently pursuing a financing deal. As soon as we hear something we will share it here! Don’t worry!

Shiver Movie 2014?

IMDB is now reporting that the new release date for the shiver movie is 2014. Is this true? We don’t know. However, when it comes to the release date this is what Maggie Stiefvater has to say:

No, it does not have a release date (everything you see online to the contrary is lies and damn lies).
