Round Table Discussion
Posted by Jen • No Comments »

For this week’s round table we’re discussing the ending of the books. WARNING: Discussion contains spoilers from each book! I’ll be doing a seperate post a little later with the topic/questions for next week. If you have any suggestions for next week’s round table leave them in the comments.

Which book had your favorite ending? What did you love about it?

Jen: For me its a tie between Shiver and Forever, but I’m leaning more towards Shiver. I loved how simple yet powerful the last scene was. I was definitely cheering for Sam and Grace at the end of the book.

Zahra: Shiver had my favourite ending. This is because i loved how it was kind of bitter-sweet. Sam did come back but it still left you wanting to know how everything would work out. At least thats what happened with me. I started wondering if the cure was permanent or if soon he would turn into a wolf again. I also started thinking how Isabel would take this considering that her brother died but with the same cure Sam lived. If she would become jealous and side with her family to get rid of the wolves. I thought of all these things because I knew that this ending was too good to be true. I knew there would be some more obsticles in their path and I wanted to know what they were and if they would be able to overcome them.

John: The book that had my favorite ending would have to be Forever, the reason why I love the ending in Forever is because Sam and Grace get to be together forever and also they get to start a new life together with the other wolves.

Kyla: My favorite ending was shiver because you know he is back to be with her. I thought it was such a great ending that that could have been the ending of their story and at first I thought it was. Then I found out that there was two more and I got super excited!!!

2. Which books ending surprised/shocked you the most? What surprised or shocked you about it?

Jen: I don’t think any of the endings shocked me. With Shiver I was happy Sam was alive. Linger I kind of figured out what was going to happen to her before the book ended and the end of Forever left me satisfied.

Zahra: For me, the ending of Linger surprised/shocked me the most. I couldn’t believe that Grace had become a wolf! I knew that she was sick because of the wolf inside of her but I didn’t think that she would have to be bitten again. I thought that they might have to find a cure to the sickness and that she would be okay after that but I didn’t think she would have to shift to live. Sure Sam I thought could possibly go back (eventhough I didn’t want him to) but Grace? I cried at the ending of that book because I just couldn’t believe it. The tables turned so drastically that it left me breathless. I felt so bad for Sam. I mean, he just got to be with her and she couldn’t be with him. Also, the fact that Cole had saved her shocked me too. The suicidal rock-star (who by the way, I LOVE) ended up saving Grace. I didn’t even think he would care but to see that side of him was amazing.
This ending was by far, in all the series, the most surprising for me.j

John: The book ending that surprised/shocked me would have to be Forever, what surprised/shocked me was when Beck died and also when I thought Cole was going to die at the end.

Kyla: The ending to Forever shocked me the most. I could not believe that that was the ending of their love story. In the end you don’t know if they both go to college, get married, have kids, ect. ect. Of cousre you guess, duh, of course they get married and go to college. But I was shocked that you never get to read about it. So forever shocked me, you would think sam would have proposed  or something…lol.

3. There seem to be alot of people who think FOREVER ended on a cliffhanger. Do you agree with that? How do you feel about how the series ended?

Jen: I strongly disagree with anyone who says that Forever ended on a cliffhanger. I think if you look at the facts about the “cure” from all the books and if you trust Cole’s science you know that the meningitis “cures” Grace so she can live happily ever after with Sam– he did tie a heart shaped leaf around her ring finger after all, so how could their story possibly end badly with that kind of optimism? The book is called FOREVER after all.

Zahra: I do agree with that opinion. It seemed like Maggie left it because you didn’t get to find out whether Isabel will actually see Cole again or whether the meningitus will kill or save Grace. Also, what about Sam? Does he have to take the meningitus again too? I couldn’t believe that this really was the end to the series. However, I’m not all that dissapointed with it. I think that Maggie may have given some room for the readers’ creativity to kick in. She gave us enough clues to know that everything worked out. Cole is alive, Isabel has finally really opened up to him, Cole knows that he needs Isabel and they may have a chance of a serious relationship. Sam and Grace are together, her parents are taken care of, Sam has finally become his own person and if the menengitus worked on Sam it could work on Grace. I think that in a way, this ending was meant to please all readers because you know the characters are alive and okay but you can think up whatever solid ending you want. So, if your not a fan of happy endings you could go on to think that a character could die, like Grace because of the meningitus. If you are a fan of happy endings then you can go on to think that everything must have turned out the way it was supposed to. So, I think the readers have to use a little bit of creativity to make the ending whatever they wish it to be. Then again, this is just my opinion but all in all, I am perfectly fine with the way the series ended.

John: Well for me Forever ended nicely because the ending was really good and also Sam and Grace got be together and as for the series ended I feel both happy for Sam and Grace but I also feel a little sad too because the series had ended but I will always remember the character’s Sam and Grace for many months too come in my life.

Kyla: Yes I think it ended on a cliffhanger. I am accutally a little disapointed that the story ends there. I thought shiver was a way way better ending than forever. And forever is the ending of it all…. Sad sad. I love the series but just the ending of it made me love it a little less.

Round Table: No Discussion
Posted by Jen • 3 Comments »

Things have been a little hectic behind the scenes here at behind yellow eyes so we weren’t able to spread the word about this weeks round table -although it was mentioned in last week’s post that we were looking for a panel and questions for this week. Needless to say no one contacted us to be on panel and no questions were submitted. So for next week we’re going to change it up a bit. Next week’s panel will contain spoilers and focus on the ending of each book. I will post the questions here and if you choose to send us your answers you could be featured on next week’s panel. Do not post your answers in the comments.

1. Which book had your favorite ending? What did you love about it?

2. Which book’s ending surprised/shocked you the most? What surprised or shocked you about it?

3. There seem to be a lot of people who think FOREVER ended on a cliffhanger. Do you agree with that? How do you feel about how the series ended?

Do not reply to these questions in the comments. To be on the panel for this discussion e-mail your questions to us at behindyelloweyes@yahoo.com. If you have a theme idea or question you’d like to present for next week you can leave them in the comments.

Round Table Discussion Tuesday
Posted by Gina • 6 Comments »

Happy Tuesday everyone! For this week’s round table discussion, we thought we’d reach out to the male Shiver fans for their opinions. This week we’re talking to Zack, JP, and Corey. Thanks guys for your participation and thanks to everyone who submitted questions! If anyone would like to participate in next week’s discussion or submit questions, you know how to reach us! :-)

Question 1: What attracted you to SHIVER? Is it the first paranormal romance you’ve read?

JP: The synopsis. The cover didn’t hurt, but I try not to judge whether to pick something up based on its cover and give the synopsis a try. As soon as I finished reading the summary, I knew I had to read it.

Zack: My sister in law gave me Linger so I read the back of it and it sounded so amazing so I said you have to get me Shiver. So I guess the descriptive writing on Linger got me really excited for Shiver. It’s not the first paranormal romance I’ve read though. I read Twilight of course but I do like this series more. Shiver ( while being about werewolves) is a more believable romance. It’s real and it doesn’t feel like Maggie was over doing it.

Corey: What first got me interested in The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy was when Maggie came and had a signing at my local B&N. I had never heard of her before and her new novel SHIVER sounded interesting. I went to the event and had my book signed and that night started it and was impressed by how well and beautifully written it was. No, the Twilight Saga was the first paranormal romance that I had read.

Question 2: Why do you think other male readers of YA should pick up this trilogy?

JP: The Wolves of Mercy Falls (and Maggie’s Books of Faerie, for that matter) are books that I love so much, they have found a special place in my heart. I don’t reread books– except Maggie’s. I think that anyone, regardless of gender or age or anything else, should pick up The Wolves of Mercy Falls (and all of Maggie’s books) because there is a good chance that they will find the same thing– an inspiring story that you’ll always love.

Zack: I believe other male readers should pick this series up just for the fact that it really is a great series. If they like being taken to another world then this is definitely the right series.

Corey: I think that other guys should read this trilogy because it’s one of the best written book series that I’ve read in awhile.

Question 3: Maggie has said that she wrote SHIVER because she wanted to make readers cry, did you cry after reading any of the books?

JP: I teared up a little during Shiver, didn’t cry during Linger, and was a hot sobbing snotty mess after Forever.

Zack: While I did not cry after reading any of the books I did feel sad and I did feel the need to cry or be sad because it’s a case of forbidden love.

Corey: I actually didn’t cry while reading these books, but I can see why some people would.
